A Mississippi couple encountered a serious food safety issue after receiving a chicken sandwich that appeared to contain raw meat from a Wendy’s drive-thru. The incident unfolded as the pair traveled toward an antique mall, and the wife, Jen, later documented the raw chicken in a video shared on TikTok, as reported by The Nerd Stash. Trouble began when the couple stopped at the restaurant for a quick meal. Both individuals ordered chicken sandwich meals, but the staff initially gave them chicken nuggets instead. Jen said she was initially patient about the mix-up, as she understands mistakes happen in food service environments. She went inside the restaurant to resolve the issue, but she said employees spent about five minutes arguing about who was responsible for the error before she finally received the correct sandwich. The couple then resumed their journey, expecting to enjoy their meal on the road. The chicken looked pink the moment they pulled it apart Once they unwrapped the food, Jen took a bite and discovered the chicken was not cooked properly. In the video, her husband holds up the sandwich and pulls apart the breaded chicken, revealing pink, undercooked meat inside. However, the footage alone cannot confirm the meat’s internal temperature or whether it carried any harmful bacteria. Wendy’s just served someone raw chicken. Not “a little pink.” Raw. After already getting the order wrong once, this lady walked in to get a new sandwich. She bit into it once she got on the interstate and discovered it wasn’t cooked. That’s salmonella.” The couple felt the situation was particularly egregious as they had spent approximately $30 on their meals. Jen said the earlier mix-up didn’t bother her, but finding raw chicken was different. “I’m the most patient person when it comes to things because mistakes happen. Serving raw chicken to consumers is not one of them,” Jen said. After the incident, the couple said they emailed Wendy’s corporate office to report the raw chicken. Commenters on the video urged the chain to refund the couple, and some suggested reporting the restaurant to the local health department. Wendy’s has not publicly responded to the complaint so far. Weeks before Jen’s video, a Louisiana Popeyes employee was accused of contaminating raw chicken in a separate clip. However, not every fast food grievance involves safety, as a Connecticut customer recently accused Chipotle of skimping on her salad dressing after receiving nearly empty cups. Some comments under the X video said, “i got food poisoning from a wendys in 2019 and haven’t been back since.” Another said, “ I’m sorry you received raw chicken, but I have never stopped on the highway to make a video about a sandwich.”
