This is why we need centralized, subsidized childcare. People who need to work can, while daycare workers are screened and paid well watch their children. When I worked in a DoD library, I had to have a very thorough background check, because I would be working very minimally with children, and always in a public space. Like so thorough the investigators sent a letter to my mom, asking her if I was safe to be around children. And I got fingerprinted, too. If we can spend $80 gazillion for all these wars and other bullshit, we can pay for the most vulnerable among us to be cared for safely, and allow parents to be productive members of society.
