Every Tottenham top scorer from 10 years of Premier League shows a worrying decline

Wait 5 sec.

Tottenham have a glaring goalscoring problem, one clearly highlighted by their top scorer record over the last ten Premier League seasons. One of Tottenham Hotspur’s major struggles this season has been in the striker position, with the Lilywhites scoring just three goals in their opening six games. That run of form is the worst return in the division, with no other side managing fewer goals. Not only are Spurs bottom for goals scored, but they are also second-bottom for expected goals, with Coventry the only side worse off.The reality for Tottenham is that the players at the top end of the pitch simply have not done enough in terms of putting the ball in the back of the net.Dominic Solanke, Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke all stand as the top scorers this season, with one goal each. But what about the last 20 Premier League seasons? Spurs Web has looked through the numbers.Photo by Sam Bagnall – AMA/Getty ImagesTottenham’s top three scorers by seasonHere is a breakdown of the top three scorers in each of the last ten seasons:SeasonRankPlayerGoalsPenalty Goals2025/261Richarlison1102João Palhinha503Cristian Romero402024/251Brennan Johnson1102James Maddison903Dominic Solanke912023/241Heung-min Son1722Richarlison1103Dejan Kulusevski802022/231Harry Kane3052Heung-min Son1003Rodrigo Bentancur502021/221Heung-min Son2302Harry Kane1743Dejan Kulusevski502020/211Harry Kane2342Heung-min Son1713Gareth Bale1102019/201Harry Kane1822Heung-min Son1103Dele Alli812018/191Harry Kane1742Heung-min Son1203Lucas Moura1002017/181Harry Kane3022Heung-min Son1203Christian Eriksen1002016/171Harry Kane2952Dele Alli1813Heung-min Son140Spurs’ reliance on Kane and Son and the drop-off ever sinceFor most of the last decade, Tottenham never worried about where the goals would come from. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son took care of that. Ten seasons of data show how much Spurs relied on them, and how badly things have gone since.Kane or Son finished top in eight of the ten seasons, and Son made the top three nine times. Kane hit 29 or 30 goals three times. By 2025/26, a defensive midfielder and a centre-back were Spurs’ second and third best scorers.SeasonTop ScorerGoals2016/17Kane292017/18Kane302018/19Kane172019/20Kane182020/21Kane232021/22Son232022/23Kane302023/24Son172024/25Johnson112025/26Richarlison11Every season up to 2023/24, Tottenham had a 17-goal scorer. Goals are not the whole story: Spurs scored 70 in 2022/23 and still finished 8th, and 64 in 2024/25 was not enough to keep them out of a relegation fight. But when the goals disappear completely, as they did in 2025/26, there is no hiding.READ MORE: Man United, Tottenham, and Arsenal are watching £42m Bazoumana Toure at NewcastleThe post Every Tottenham top scorer from 10 years of Premier League shows a worrying decline appeared first on Spurs Web.
