Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of winning the race for Kim Min-jae may be fading, as the South Korean is now starting to attract attention from Arsenal. The Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke centre-back pairing is yet to click for Spurs so far this season, with the backline feeling the effects of losing their leader, Cristian Romero, in the summer. In fact, some Spurs fans have even called for Marcos Senesi to start over Van de Ven, which shows that not everyone has been convinced by the new Dutch pairing. The Lilywhites could thus consider adding more quality in the heart of their defence, and several German outlets have claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham could offer Kim Min-jae a route out of Bayern.Kim Min-jae – who has been nicknamed ‘The Monster’ – is struggling to displace Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah from the Bundesliga giants’ starting eleven, thus potentially opening the door for a January departure.Photo by Benjamin Faes/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty ImagesArsenal ready to challenge Tottenham for Kim Min-jaeTottenham’s interest in Kim is not new, with some sources even claiming Spurs made contact with the South Korean’s camp over a transfer in the summer window. It was previously reported that De Zerbi’s side are facing competition from Aston Villa and AC Milan for the Bayern defender, and the competition has now just got much fiercer.Bild journalist Christian Falk has now shared that Kim has also been added to Arsenal’s shortlist for January, with the reigning Premier League champions keen on adding defensive reinforcements.Falk said on CF Bayern Insider: “It is true: Min-jae Kim is officially on Arsenal’s list. I’ve had this news confirmed. It’s partly because of the injury to Piero Hincapie.“Also, the scouting chief, Maurizio Micheli, is the same one who discovered the South Korean during his time at Napoli. Now, he works for Arsenal, which is why he has the centre-back on his radar.“They are looking for a potential defensive signing for the winter, so perhaps Kim could be sold with the right offer. We have to see what happens!”A January move deemed unlikely for KimHowever, multiple sources have also made it clear over the last month that the 29-year-old is not pushing for a move away from the German club despite his lack of game time.In fact, TEAMtalk claimed Kim is happy to be a squad player for Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena and wants to be at the club for the rest of the season.Journalist Pete O’Rourke also asserted that Bayern are unlikely to consider a sale of the former Napoli man mid-season, given Champions League ambitions.O’Rourke said: “Kim is a player who has been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs for a number of years. I don’t expect anything to happen in January, because I don’t think Bayern Munich would want to weaken their squad.“We’re getting the suggestions that Bayern could be willing to let him leave, but I don’t think that’s the plan right now. I think Kompany wants to keep hold of Kim Min-jae. And obviously Bayern are going for honours in the Bundesliga and also the Champions League; they won’t want to weaken their squad.”READ MORE: Five places Tottenham could send Luca Williams-Barnett on loan in JanuaryThe post Arsenal look to beat Tottenham to signing of Heung-min Son's 'monster' teammate appeared first on Spurs Web.
