Yedsit Hazlewood, the 18-year-old rider who dominated the Maryland circuit before shifting to Kentucky, will be sidelined for a “few months,” reports his agent Cliff Collier. Hazlewood suffered a broken right elbow in a spill on Oct. 6 at Horseshoe Indianapolis.“Yedsit had successful surgery on his elbow,” Collier said via text. “He is back at his house in Delaware and will probably miss a few months until it heals. He was extremely sore the first days in the hospital, but is becoming more mobile every day.”Hazlewood was the runner-up in the Eclipse Award race for leading apprentice last year. Though he lost his apprentice allowance on June 28, he is considered the leading contender to be named champion apprentice this year. He has won 214 races on the year, 184 of them coming as a bug rider. The post Hazlewood Has Elbow Surgery, Will Be Out a “Few Months” appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
