"Samayam 10:14" a Kerala centric watch a friend and I built.

Wait 5 sec.

Story behind the build. This is essentially the culmination of a discussion a friend and I had about creating a truly Kerala centric watch. We went with alternating Malayalam numerals and batons, tiny maps of Kerala as the dial pattern, topped with green enamel to reflect the state's lush greenery. The hour and minute hands are shaped to form a 'Chundan Vallam' i.e Snake Boat, when the time is 10:14 which is also the inspiration for its name, while the seconds hand features a coconut tree at the tip and an elephant as the counterweight. Every element reflects Kerala, except for of course the J.A.W badge, which is in English, it's abbreviation for Jino & Ashwin Watchworks. The watch is powered by an Orient Automatic movement and has all the bells and whistles. submitted by /u/KarmicChaos to r/Watches_India [link] [comments]
