NEAR Protocol (NEAR) — Friday and Weekend Trading OutlookNEAR / Tether PERPETUAL FUTURESMEXC:NEARUSDT.Psean78808NEAR Protocol (NEAR) — Friday and Weekend Trading Outlook | October 16, 2026 MARKET OUTLOOK: A STRONG RECOVERY WITH NEARBY RESISTANCE LIMITING FRESH ENTRIES NEAR has recovered well from Thursday's selloff into the mid-4.5 area. The broader weekly and daily recovery survives, but the rebound has reached a congested auction beneath an updated descending pitchfork channel's upper boundary. Buyers now need to establish support, rather than rely on the strength of the initial impulse. The preferred directional watch is a fresh defense of 5.20–5.25. The first checkpoint is 5.29–5.32; 5.40–5.44 comes later. A separate rejection at that upper resistance could offer a tactical short, but neither worked example currently supplies adequate reward to its nearest opposing edge. We do well to wait for better positioning. This post restates the early October 16 assessment and subsequent Plan-chart revision. The original review was circa 00:40–00:49 UTC, with price near 5.32; the later drawing review showed price around 5.30. Levels refer to MEXC:NEARUSDT.P, quoted in USDT. Later quotes, completed triggers and fills are not certified by this dated map. ACROSS THE TIMEFRAMES Weekly: Price remains above rising Fast and Slow KAMAs after the larger advance. The unfinished weekly candle has nevertheless rejected the 5.9 area. Continuation needs renewed acceptance through the intervening resistance. Daily: Thursday recovered from the mid-4.5 area and closed near 5.264. Price remained above the daily KAMAs at the assessment, but the prior spike toward 5.9 had not been repaired. 4H: Price reclaimed both KAMAs after the low near 4.53. The Fast KAMA remained below the Slow KAMA, making this a strong rebound inside damaged intermediate structure. 24m and 6m: The first pullback from 5.40 held around 5.24. The rising Slow KAMA supported that higher low, while the Fast KAMA flattened near the current auction. Cooling momentum favors assessing a new retest rather than chasing the rebound. PARTICIPATION AND PRINCIPAL LEVELS The intraday review showed compression, cooling volume and no fresh volatility expansion. Buying-pressure readings had improved, but price was extended from rolling VWAP. Such makes patience obligatory. An oscillator reset can permit another upward leg without confirming one. 5.501–5.587: Saved weekly footprint resistance; a later repair stage. 5.40–5.44: Nearest upper resistance and rejection watch. 5.29–5.32: First checkpoint, around the developing point of control and short-term congestion. 5.27–5.36: Wider tactical overlap; a poor place to assume clear directional space. 5.20–5.25: Pullback support watch. 5.15: First lower checkpoint if the support base fails. 5.00–5.07: Deeper recovery base and 4H trend-reference area. 4.78, then 4.53–4.62: Separate lower stages if the recovery deteriorates further. CONDITIONAL PLANS 1. Assess a fresh defense of 5.20–5.25. Require two consecutive completed 24m closes above 5.23, followed by a separate completed 6m retest that holds the gate and establishes a higher low. Participation should stabilize with the defense. The retest must follow the second qualifying 24m close. Illustrative parameters: entry 5.23, stop 5.16, first target 5.29 — approximately 0.86R gross and 0.63R after the cost allowance below. This example is rejected. Skipping the nearby checkpoint in favor of 5.40 would overstate the initial reward. A completed 24m close below 5.23 resets confirmation; below 5.20 cancels this recovery episode. The protective stop must also clear the actual retest low and executes intrabar. 2. Assess a separate rejection at 5.40–5.44. Require a fresh resistance probe, a completed 24m close below 5.40, and a later failed 6m reclaim with a lower high and weakening buying pressure. High RSI alone does not authorize the short. Illustrative parameters: entry 5.40, stop 5.46, first target 5.36 — approximately 0.67R gross and 0.43R after costs. This example is also rejected. The 5.32–5.29 congestion and lower support are subsequent stages. Two completed 24m closes above 5.44 followed by a defended retest cancel the fade. That recovery would open a separate assessment toward 5.49 and the 5.501–5.587 band. Acceptance below 5.20 with a failed reclaim instead shifts attention to 5.15, then 5.07–5.00. Neither branch is automatically an eligible trade. Net figures deduct an illustrative 0.010 USDT per NEAR from reward and add it to risk. Actual fees, spread, slippage and funding govern execution. Require roughly 2R after costs to the nearest obstacle; use the actual structural stop rather than tightening it to pass the test. MACRO CONTEXT October 15 official Treasury readings were 5.10% for nominal 10Y and 2.78% for real 10Y, both lower than the prior day. The delayed DXY reference was 102.00, down 0.54%. Easing rate and dollar pressure offers relief, but does not prove broad risk appetite or confirm a NEAR long. Reassess pending watches after material macro surprises and as weekend participation changes. NOTATE BENE MA's: Purple is Fast KAMA (10,2,30); pink is Slow KAMA (10,5,30). These are Kaufman Adaptive Moving Averages. PITCHFORK CHANNEL: The updated descending fork's white median and parallel boundaries describe the fitted trend path. Gray fill marks the core; burgundy outer bands and red sloping warning lines show extensions beyond it. Entering a warning area means price is stretching outside the central path. A wick alone does not establish reversal. Read the sloping lines at the candle being assessed: their price changes with time. DRAWINGS: Support Watch, Checkpoint and Rejection Watch describe decision areas, not active orders. A checkpoint is the first obstacle; a failure gate is not a universal protective stop. The saved footprint band is contextual resistance, not a fresh absorption confirmation. Expire an unfilled episode if its first target trades before entry, its defining swing fails, six completed 24m bars pass from the initial gate event, or a material event changes the premise. Cancelled episodes stay retired; a later opportunity requires a new sequence. Open trades remain governed by their protective stops.
