Labour Party CEO Ivan Falzon has issued blogger and party volunteer Neville Gafà with a written warning, telling him to substantially moderate his public tone and language or risk losing access to Labour’s headquarters in Ħamrun.According to the warning, Gafà’s public narrative does not reflect the standards of respect expected by the Labour Party. Gafà does not hold an official party position or work as a Labour employee, but has been using the party’s facilities to meet people seeking assistance.Gafà confirmed receiving the letter in a Facebook post today, saying it was the first written warning he had received since becoming a Labour volunteer. He stressed that he holds “no position whatsoever” within the party and is not an employee, describing himself instead as a volunteer working from Labour’s national headquarters.Gafà also claimed he has assisted thousands of families before, during and after the last general election, saying this work was carried out on the instructions of Labour leader Robert Abela. However, he challenged Falzon’s authority to issue the warning, claiming it breached the Labour Party statute and saying he would leave that question for the party administration to scrutinise.Gafà further alleged that the warning was intended to “intimidate” and silence him from publishing what he described as facts about certain circles, while suggesting it may have been sent without the Labour leadership’s knowledge.Despite the clash, Gafà insisted he remains unconditionally committed to the Labour Party and its leadership, ending his statement with “Viva l-Labour. Viva Malta.”•
