Are low prices ($1-$2) for complex STL files ruining the value of 3D modeling work?

Wait 5 sec.

I've been noticing a trend where highly detailed, print-tested functional or artistic models are being listed for practically pennies. On one hand, lower prices drive volume. On the other hand, spending 15+ hours on CAD/topology optimization and tolerance testing just to sell a file for $1 seems like a race to the bottom that devalues the whole craft. What’s your cutoff price when deciding whether a model is worth making paid vs keeping open source/free? (PS: Currently testing listing some premium functional designs on independent platforms like DaBox instead of subscription treadmills, curious how other creators approach pricing). submitted by /u/dabox_3d to u/dabox_3d [link] [comments]
