Hi all, as the title states I am currently in a traditional BSN program. I am starting to look at jobs early because my area can be super competitive for new grads. I’ve been interested in LTC for a while now, as I’m not a fan of critical care but am also weary about med surg. Recently one of my professors recommended us to start in med surg even if we are interested in a less acute specialty. I hadn’t considered this before, but apparently it can be hard to move from LTC to a specialty inside of a hospital. I am just somewhat hesitant because the hospital closest to me has a mixed med surg (adult and peds) because it’s a rural area. I wouldn’t be opposed to starting there for a year or two but tbh it’s not the specialty I truly want. Is it true that if I start in LTC it will be harder to move to a hospital specialty? submitted by /u/Sabrina-cat [link] [comments]
