Inter lost 4-3 to Club Brugge in midweek, but Cristian Chivu wants his team to put that defeat swiftly behind them.Chivu's team fought back to trail 3-2 in the 81st minute of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Brugge at San Siro.Yet they conceded the decisive blow just six minutes later, with Ange-Yoan Bonny's stoppage-time effort not enough. Now, Chivu has urged Inter to get back on track when they take on Bologna in Serie A."We accept our responsibilities," he said."Something didn't work in the final 30 minutes against Brugge, but we mustn't lose sight of what we did well in the first hour."We created a lot and entered the second half with the right attitude, producing two major chances."Then everything collapsed. We have to analyse it as two matches within one. We need to react and find new energy as quickly as possible. We mustn't feel sorry for ourselves; we need to respond."Serie A leaders Inter have already shipped 14 goals in all competitions this season, and Chivu acknowledged he needs to find a solution defensively."It has to begin with me. I'm the one primarily responsible," Chivu said. "We need to develop a shared mindset and take responsibility. This is a group of fantastic players; we just need to find unity and reconnect with the different moments of a match without allowing adversity to bring us down."We must not turn it [the defeat against Brugge] into a drama, even if it hurts, because expectations were high."It was a win we could have taken, and I say it with the utmost respect for the opponent. They were well organised and caused us problems when we declined mentally. We lost our confidence and became confused. We reacted emotionally instead of staying organised."Inter have been dealt a blow, however, with Chivu confirming talisman Lautaro Martinez is set to miss up to a month due to injury.PLAYERS TO WATCHBologna - Federico BernardeschiBernardeschi has been involved in six goals (four goals, two assists) in Serie A in 2026, more than any other Bologna player.Bologna's five goals in Serie A this season have been scored by five different players, with Bernardeschi among those to find the net.Inter - Marcus ThuramMartinez has scored five goals against Bologna in Serie A, so Inter will have to do without their top scorer. The pressure, then, will be on Marcus Thuram, who has three league goals to his name this term, to deliver in Martinez's absence.MATCH PREDICTION: INTER WINThere has been a perfect balance in the last nine Serie A matches between Bologna and Inter, with three wins for each side and three draws – including a 3-3 draw in their most recent encounter in May at the Dall'Ara.Bologna and Inter could draw consecutive league matches for the first time since November 2013 and April 2014.And Bologna are unbeaten in four of their last five home Serie A matches against Inter (W3 D1), having lost 12 of their previous 15 home league games against them (D3).However, since last December, Bologna have conceded more goals in home Serie A games than any other side (26); in the same period, excluding promoted and relegated teams, Bologna (W2 D5 L10) have gained the fewest points in home league matches (11 in 17 games, at least five fewer than any other side).Bologna have drawn four of their last five home Serie A matches (L1), including their two most recent; they could record at least three consecutive home draws in the competition for the first time since between April and October 2024 (seven in that run).Inter have already taken 16 points in Serie A this season. The Nerazzurri could reach at least 19 points after their first seven league games for only the fourth time in the three-points-for-a-win era (since 1994-95), after 2017-18 under Luciano Spalletti (19), 2002-03 under Hector Cuper (19) and 1997-98 under Luigi Simoni (19).OPTA WIN PROBABILITYBologna - 19.5%Draw - 23.3%Inter - 57.2%
