3.40 Leopardstown, Mdn, 2yo, f, 7fTIf you love two-year-old racing, Leopardstown is the place to be on Saturday with several hot prospects due to either make their debuts or build on promising starts.Fourth on the card is the seven-furlong Irish Stallion Farms EBF Laidlaw Cup Fillies Maiden, which has been targeted successfully on many occasions by Dermot Weld who boasts fives wins since 2013 and saddles The Aga Khan Studs homebred TARANGA (FR) (Dubawi {Ire}) this time. A half-sister to two of Rosewell House's best of recent times in the Breeders' Cup Turf, Prix de l'Opera and Prix Vermeille heroine Tarnawa (Shamardal) and the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, Matron Stakes and Moyglare heroine Tahiyra (Siyouni), she is bred to be special and it can be no coincidence that she lines up in this.Benchmark fillies include Ballydoyle's Ingabelle Stakes third Snowing (Ire) (No Nay Never), the highly-experienced 950,000gns Tattersalls October Book 1 purchase who is a half-sister to the high-class multiple Group 1-placed miler Maljoom; and Bond Thoroughbred Limited's Sensational Filly (Fr) (Mehmas {Ire}), a Paddy Twomey-trained half-sister to Constitution River who was an eye-catching third on debut behind Ballydoyle's subsequent Fillies' Mile runner-up Haven at Dundalk.Another of the debutantes is Anymore (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), a full-sister to the Pretty Polly and Nassau winner Whirl also representing Aidan O'Brien who tends to win this when Weld doesn't; and Audrey Turley's homebred Lady Letita (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), an intriguing member of the Willie Mullins flat team out of the Triumph Hurdle winner and Ascot Gold Cup fourth Burning Victory (Nathaniel).12.55 Ascot, Cond, 2yo, 6fTKicking off Qatar Racing British Champions Day is the £250,000 Two-Year-Old Conditions Stakes, inaugurated last year and captured by a future Royal Ascot Group 1 winner in Mission Central.Whether this year's renewal hosts another of those remains to be seen, but it does boast several likely types including the a pair of Group 2 winners with Godolphin's INNER CITY BLUES (IRE) (Blue Point {Ire}) bidding to re-establish his reputation having disappointed in the Middle Park. Having previously made light work of beating the re-opposing Adaay Of Scarlett (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) in Newmarket's July Stakes, the €900,000 Arqana May Breeze-Up top-priced colt looks to get Charlie Appleby off to a flyer on one of the biggest days of the year. Also here is Doug Graham and Carole Dods's Gimcrack winner Arapaho Gold (Ire) (Bayside Boy {Ire}) who was a respectable third under a penalty in the Mill Reef; Middleham Park Racing's Redcar Two Year Old Trophy winner Satellite Of Love (Ire) (Minzaal {Ire}) and the Kennet Valley Syndicates flagbearer Night In Vegas (Ire) (Lucky Vega {Ire}), who already has three Sales races in safe keeping and hails from the Eve Johnson Houghton stable so effective at Ascot.1.57 Leopardstown, Mdn, 2yo, f, 8f 100yTGetting this intriguing fixture off to a start is the race won in the last two years by Amelia Earhart and Minnie Hauk, so eyes peeled for the next Cheshire Oaks winner and Oaks favourite!Perhaps it will come from the same Ballydoyle stable that houses that pair of classy fillies, with the newcomer CAPTIVATING (IRE) (Dubawi {Ire}) catching the eye. The fourth foal out of the Yorkshire Oaks heroine Tapestry (Galileo), she is a half-sister to American Pharoah's juvenile Group 3 winner Dreamy who won on her debut and it is perhaps significant that Jack Cleary is on board after he steered Amelia Earhart to success 12 months ago.Aidan O'Brien will have a fair idea of where she stands with the number one hope Speckles (Ire) (No Nay Never), the daughter of the Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Seventh Heaven (Galileo) who was a distant third in the May Hill last time, but there are two more newcomers who warrant close attention. They are Robert Moran's Duchessofaquitaine (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), a Paddy Twomey-trained 425,000gns full-sister to the high-class The Lion In Winter; and Newtown Anner Stud Farm's 525,000gns-bought Gods Love (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), a Ger Lyons-trained half-sister to Silver Knott out of the Premio Lydia Tesio and Park Hill winner God Given (Nathaniel).2.32 Leopardstown, Mdn, 2yo, c/g, 8f 100yTPart of the Smullen Series, this Irish EBF Maiden for the colts and geldings is where you could see a live Derby prospect and Ballydoyle's unraced PIRATE OF PENZANCE (IRE) (Camelot {GB}) very much fits the bill in that regard. He is the eighth foal out of the Group 3 winner Sunday Times (Holy Roman Emperor) and therefore a half-brother to Lope De Vega's luminary Newspaperofrecord, who is now the dam of the yard's celebrity Benvenuto Cellini. Sunday Times is also a half-sister to the dam of a pair of class acts by Camelot in Latrobe, who like Benvenuto Cellini captured the Irish Derby and the proven Group 1 performer Pink Dogwood who produced this year's Futurity winner Giant Sequoia (Frankel).Gavin Ryan takes the ride on the newcomer, with Wayne Lordan on the stable's twice-raced Kingdom Of Camelot (Fr) (Camelot {GB}). A €1.2-million Arqana Deauville August purchase who hails from the family of Camelot's dual Group winner Pensee Du Jour and the great Peintre Celebre, he needs to step up but could be a slow learner while Juddmonte's Mount Meru (GB) (Baaeed {GB}) showed enough when runner-up to Albany County at Gowran Park to suggest he could be a major player here for Joseph O'Brien.Related to Logician et al, Mount Meru is one of countless bluebloods on the card alongside one of this race's newcomers Etawann (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), an Aga Khan Studs-Johnny Murtagh project from the “E” family which includes one of the trainer's Gold Cup-winning rides Enzeli (Kahyasi). The post Tarnawa And Tahiyra’s Half-Sister Taranga Debuts At Leopardstown appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
