Disney has made a major change to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While The Mandalorian is frequently cited as one of the biggest success stories for both Disney+ and modern Star Wars, the franchise’s reputation has taken a hit in recent years. Season three received criticism for sidelining Din Djarin – voiced by Pedro Pascal – in favor of Bo-Katan Kryze, earning just a 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.Credit: LucasfilmThe release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in May 2026 did little to reverse this trend. Critics accused the film of feeling like an extended Disney+ episode, with its thin plot and reliance on fan service drawing particular criticism. It took home a disappointing $345.8 million at the box office, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie to date.Regardless, Mando remains an extremely popular character at Galaxy’s Edge. The bounty hunter has been a familiar sight wandering the Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 2023, when he was frequently swarmed by fans. However, Disney has now put an end to his appearances.Disney Changes Mandalorian AppearancesDin Djarin can no longer be found wandering through Galaxy’s Edge’s Marketplace with Grogu in his sling bag.Instead, Chewbacca has taken the character’s place, surprising guests with spontaneous interactions.Credit: DisneyThe good news is that The Mandalorian hasn’t disappeared for good. Instead of encountering the character roaming Galaxy’s Edge, guests must now queue for a traditional meet-and-greet at a fixed location near the Millennium Falcon, which is where Chewbacca previously met parkgoers. But don’t rule out all spontaneous interactions. The Mandalorian still roams Galaxy’s Edge twice daily, including a new stop at Oga’s Cantina (without Grogu, who, as “The Child,” is unsurprisingly too young to visit such an establishment). These appearances aren’t advertised or guaranteed every single day.Guests hoping for a traditional meet-and-greet can check scheduled times for The Mandalorian and Grogu in the My Disney Experience app.Other characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios include Rey, who can typically be spotted near the Resistance camp on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. Resistance spy Vi Moradi also makes occasional appearances, often attempting to avoid the First Order while recruiting guests to help her cause.Credit: DisneyOn the opposite side of the conflict, Kylo Ren can appear near the First Order’s TIE echelon at Docking Bay 9. Stormtroopers also patrol Black Spire Outpost, questioning guests about their allegiance to the Resistance. Unlike traditional meet-and-greets, most of these encounters happen spontaneously throughout the day.Disneyland Resort’s version of Galaxy’s Edge has a much larger character lineup. In April 2026, the California park expanded the land’s timeline to include the original Star Wars trilogy, introducing Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. The characters can now be spotted around the Millennium Falcon.Unlike Florida, Disneyland also features Ahsoka Tano, who roams the Marketplace alongside The Mandalorian and Grogu. R2-D2 can also be spotted exploring Batuu, while Rey continues to appear near the Resistance camp. Kylo Ren, meanwhile, has relocated to Tomorrowland’s Star Wars Launch Bay following Darth Vader’s arrival, much to the disappointment of fans.Who is your favorite character to meet at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? The post Confirmed: Disney Axes the Mandalorian Experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge appeared first on Inside the Magic.
