How does your unit manage PTO? Does the unit get a higher number of hours of PTO approved per week due to the amount of seniority? Our unit gets 120 hours per week and 150 hours per week in the summer months. When you add up everyone’s PTO, the weekly average comes out to over 180 hours per week because nurses with more seniority get extra PTO based on years of service. I’m just wondering if other places have found a solution or if the nurses who have been working less than 15 years just accept the fact they’ll have to carry over unused PTO every year? I also want to stress that I totally understand seniority should be rewarded with first pick of PTO but I believe we all deserve to have the ability to take some PTO of our own choosing as benefited employees.   submitted by   /u/Weary-Ad1749 [link]   [comments]
