‘I am Tottenham’s fastest player until Mudryk returns’: Micky van de Ven says the stats lie

Wait 5 sec.

Micky van de Ven insists he remains the fastest player in Tottenham’s squad, despite the arrival of several rapid new signings over the summer. This season, Omar Marmoush has already clocked the fastest speed among Tottenham players, reaching 35.1 km/h.That new record saw him surpass the mark previously held by fellow summer signing Savio, who had recorded a top speed of 34.5 km/h.The list also features a surprise inclusion, with Sandro Tonali clocking an impressive 34.2 km/h to rank in the top three fastest players in the Tottenham squad.Interestingly, Micky van de Ven, who is rapid, is not amongst the top five quickest this campaign, yet the centre-back remains adamant that he is the fastest player in the Tottenham squad.Tottenham PlayerSpeedOmar Marmoush35.1 km/hSavio34.5 km/hSandro Tonali34.2 km/hAndy Robertson34.0 km/hDestiny Udogie33.9 km/hPhoto by Simon Stacpoole/Offside/Offside via Getty ImagesMicky van de Ven insists he is Tottenham’s quickestThis came in an interview with Goal Fanzone, where Van de Ven was told to keep his head down until he heard a player faster than him in the Spurs squad. The interviewer began with Dominic Solanke, to which Van de Ven kept his head down while commenting: “Dom says it a lot though, but no.”Next was Tonali, and Van de Ven still kept his head down. Xavi Simons, Marcos Senesi, Richarlison, and Mathys Tel were met with shakes of the head. When Marmoush was mentioned, he said: “He is rapid,” but his head remained down. He maintained the same stance when ‘rapid’ Savio and Destiny Udogie were mentioned.Speaking about Mudryk, however, he was less certain: “I haven’t seen Misha on his top speed yet, but I think he is up there. But I haven’t seen much of him speed-wise, so I am not going to put my head up there.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by GOAL's FanZone (@goalfanzone)Van de Ven’s record and Marmoush’s riseIndeed, Van de Ven is rapid. The Dutchman currently holds the record for the fastest player in Premier League history, having reached a top speed of 37.38 km/h in the 2020-21 season. However, this season Van de Ven has yet to hit those heights and currently ranks eighth among Tottenham players with a top speed of 33.6 km/h.Marmoush, though, is not far off Van de Ven’s record. Mudryk has also shown his pace in the past, with the Ukrainian once reaching a top speed of 36.63 km/h (22.76 mph) during his Chelsea debut against Liverpool in the Premier League. The on-loan signing would certainly give Van de Ven a run for his money.READ MORE: ‘Every player dreams of Champions League’ – Arthur Dias reacts to Tottenham transfer linksThe post ‘I am Tottenham’s fastest player until Mudryk returns’: Micky van de Ven says the stats lie appeared first on Spurs Web.
