Uttarakhand has issued a ban on the manufacture, sale and distribution of tobacco products for one year. This decision emphasizes the importance of public health as stated by the Food Safety Commissioner. The ban affects all products containing tobacco or nicotine regardless of their branding. Previously, Odisha also implemented a similar prohibition, beginning in early 2026. Restrictions on these products have been in place in Odisha since 2013.
