But as I say, it’s not our process, it’s that of the Premier League’s independent commission. What I don’t think we can do is take any judgment until we’re quite clear.“Obviously, City claim that they have some form of silver bullet to put off these charges and win the appeal, and we’re not there to judge whether that’s right or wrong yet, but I think we’ll know in the early part of next year.”What are Man City’s charges?54x Failure to provide accurate financial information 2009-10 to 2017-18.14x Failure to provide accurate details for player and manager payments from 2009-10 to 2017-18.5x Failure to comply with Uefa’s rules including Financial Fair Play (FFP) 2013-14 to 2017-18.7x Breaching Premier League’s PSR rules 2015-16 to 2017-18.35x Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations December 2018 – Feb 2023.What punishment could be handed to Man City?A wide range of sanctions are available if City’s appeal fails. This includes being stripped of all titles won during that period, hefty financial penalties and points deductions.talkSPORT understands that the doomsday scenario is that City are kicked out of the English football pyramid. This would be the Premier League and EFL saying no to them carrying on in any of the top four divisions. It would then be up to the National League to decide if they would accept City and so on as you go down the pyramid.Sunday’s win over Liverpool was City’s eighth in a row under Maresca across all competitionsGettyMan City’s responseThe club claims to have ‘irrefutable evidence’ in support of its argument relating to this case.A statement read: “Manchester City Football Club can confirm that at 7pm on Thursday 1st October 2026 the club lodged its comprehensive appeal against the opinion of the Premier League Commission, in relation to the Premier League disciplinary matter.“The club’s firm position is that, on multiple grounds, the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe.“The club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case.“We will continue to respect due process and are necessarily restricted in what we can say further until all proceedings are complete.”Man City this seasonOn the pitch, City have been unstoppable under new manager Enzo Maresca. They have won all eight games in all competitions this season.City are top of the Premier League with a 100 per cent record. They face a tough test against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.Listen to live commentary of the match on talkSPORT with kick-off at 8pm.
