The sire of Grade I winners like Forte, Mullikin, Volatile, No Parole and Dr. Schivel, Violence (by Medaglia d'Oro) has been officially retired from commercial breeding by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa and will become a private stallion at Newtown Anner Stud. The news was first reported by the Blood Horse on Friday evening. The article states that Violence was struggling with fertility issues and according to Hill 'n' Dale's John Sikura could no longer serve as a commercial sire.“His semen quality and fertility has been substantially reduced, so we had to be careful about how many times we bred him and the results were not what is required of a commercial stallion in Kentucky,” Sikura told the Blood Horse's Eric Mitchell. “We tried everything in the world, brought in the experts, and we got to a point where we could not be fair to our customers and our shareholders. He is a wonderful horse, and it is very disappointing.”The Blood Horse article goes on to say that Black Rock Stables's Steve Marshall, who owned the Grade I winner during his racing career, and bloodstock agent Hanzly Albina were the ones who crafted the deal to purchase the stallion from Black Rock's syndicate.Violence will take up residence at Newtown Anner Stud, but the piece said that it is unclear at this point if the sire will cover mares in the future.According to the Jockey Club's 'Report of Mares Bred,' Violence was visited by 57 mares this past season.Hill 'n' Dale consigned Violence when he was a $600,000 Keeneland September buy in 2011 and Albina's agency was the one who signed the ticket on behalf of Black Rock Stables. The post Hill ‘N’ Dale At Xalapa Retires Sire Violence From Commercial Duty appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
