Spirit Christmas Opens Minutes From Walt Disney World Before Halloween Ends

Wait 5 sec.

Halloween is not over yet at Walt Disney World.Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is still running. The Headless Horseman is still galloping down Main Street, U.S.A. There are still pumpkins on the lampposts, there is still candy in the trick-or-treat lines, and there are still roughly two weeks before anybody carves anything. So there is a very reasonable reaction to the news that a full Christmas store has opened near Walt Disney World, and that reaction is, excuse me, it is October.Credit: DisneyFair. Completely fair. But here is the thing, and it is going to be hard to argue with. Disney announced its 25 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates on June 24. Tickets went on sale to everyone on July 16.Disney was selling Christmas in the summer.Against that, a Christmas store opening in mid-October looks almost patient. And it is open now. Spirit Christmas has arrived in Winter Garden, a short drive from Walt Disney World, and it is exactly what the name promises. Not Spirit Halloween. Spirit Christmas.Where It Is and What You Will FindSpirit Christmas of Winter Garden has moved into a former Forever 21 at 3049 Daniels Road, Suite 220C, Winter Garden, FL 34787. The store opens at 10 a.m. and can be reached at (855) 704-2669.The inventory covers the full range, from the small stuff to the aggressively large stuff.String lightsStocking stuffersGiant wreathsLarger-than-life inflatable lawn decorHoliday sweaters that light up and play musicLaugh-out-loud giftsSpirit describes the atmosphere as jolly, which, having read the phrase “holiday sweaters that light up and play music,” tracks.Worth noting that Spirit Christmas locations are select-location pop-ups rather than a nationwide rollout, so anyone outside Central Florida should check spiritchristmas.com before making a trip. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chip and Company (@chipandco)This Is the Same Company, and That Explains EverythingHere is the detail that makes the whole concept click into place.Spirit Christmas is Spirit Halloween. Same operation. The store directory for this location even lives on the Spirit Halloween website. Now think about how Spirit Halloween actually works as a business. It takes short-term leases on vacant retail space, moves in around August, sells costumes and animatronics for ten weeks, and clears out.Which means on November 1, that company is sitting on a lease, a staffed store, and a fully built-out space with nothing to sell for ten months.Spirit Christmas solves that. Same lease, same fixtures, same staff, completely different season. You get a second revenue cycle out of a single vacant building. That is also why this one is in a former Forever 21. The entire model runs on empty big-box retail, and Christmas decor happens to fit the same footprint that Halloween costumes did a week earlier.Winter Garden Is a Smarter Location Than It SoundsWinter Garden is not a tourist corridor. It is a real town with a genuine downtown, a farmers market, and the West Orange Trail running through it. It is where Central Florida families actually live.So this store is primarily serving locals who are decorating their own houses, which is the right call. But there is a second audience worth flagging for anyone planning a Disney trip.A significant number of Walt Disney World visitors stay in vacation rental homes rather than resorts, and a lot of those homes are in Winter Garden, Windermere, and the Horizon West area. A family renting a house for a December stay may genuinely want lights, a wreath, or a small tree to make the place feel like the holidays. For those guests, a Christmas store minutes from the rental is not a novelty. It is useful. The Disney Changeover Is Closer Than You ThinkHere is the part that actually answers the question of how anyone could be thinking about Christmas already.Disney has to think about Christmas already. The math is brutal.Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party wraps up at the end of October. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins November 8.That is roughly one week.Credit: DisneyIn that window, Magic Kingdom strips an entire Halloween overlay and installs an entire Christmas one. Main Street, U.S.A. decor comes down, and garlands go up. The Town Square tree arrives. Castle lighting changes. Merchandise rotates. Parades and shows swap out. Cast costuming changes over. One park, two complete seasonal identities, eight days apart. It is one of the most impressive operational turnarounds Disney performs all year, and almost nobody talks about it because it mostly happens overnight while everyone is asleep. So the honest answer to “how are we already thinking about Christmas” is that the people whose job it is have been thinking about it since June, and the physical changeover starts within days. What Is Coming at Magic KingdomFor anyone looking ahead, the holiday calendar at Walt Disney World is already set.Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party runs 25 nights beginning November 8 and continuing through December 22. Ticket prices range from $189 to $229 depending on the date, with Annual Passholder discounts available on select nights and a $10 savings per ticket for children ages 3 to 9.Eight of those 25 nights have already sold out, including all three of the cheapest dates, so the calendar is moving faster than it looks. And the trees. Every park gets one, and the Magic Kingdom tree in Town Square is the one people plan photos around.Credit: DisneyWhy This Store Pairs Well With an Expensive TripOne practical thought for families, and it is not a dig at Disney.A Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket runs between $189 and $229 per person. For a family of four, that is a real number, and it is on top of park tickets, hotel, and food.Spirit Christmas is a store. Walking in costs nothing. So if you are on a Disney trip in November or December and you want an hour of holiday atmosphere without buying another ticketed event, a decor store with inflatable lawn snowmen taller than your children is a free evening. Kids love the oversized stuff, and there is no admission gate. That is a decent trade on a day when everyone needs a break from the parks anyway.Go Look at the SweatersIf you take one recommendation from this, make it the holiday sweaters that light up and play music. That is not a product category that needed to exist. Someone chose to make it exist. And there is now a store near Walt Disney World where you can stand in front of a rack of them, press the buttons, and make a decision you will later have feelings about.Halloween still has two weeks. Nobody is saying otherwise. But the Christmas store is open, Disney’s own holiday season starts in roughly three weeks, and the pumpkins on Main Street, U.S.A. are already living on borrowed time.Sources: The Main Street Mouse reporting and Spirit Christmas store information for Winter Garden, Florida. The post Spirit Christmas Opens Minutes From Walt Disney World Before Halloween Ends appeared first on Inside the Magic.
