My Linux side project now runs two Stream Decks together: Decksmith 1.5.1

Wait 5 sec.

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on Decksmith, a free, open-source Linux app for Stream Deck hardware, and I’m really excited about this update: my Stream Deck + and standard 15-key MK.2 now work together on my Fedora desktop. I use the app daily, so a lot of the work has come from trying things on my own desk and asking, “Does this actually feel good to use?” The new audio gauges are one of my favorite parts. Seeing the volume setting and actual audio activity separately on the Plus touch strip makes a real difference for me. What’s new in V1.5.1 Both Decks running side by side, each with its own saved layouts, pages and brightness. Either can control shared audio/media targets. Three Plus audio display choices: dual arcs for volume and activity, a single activity arc with the volume percentage beside it, or Classic bars. The meters follow each assigned audio target. A cleaner native GTK editor. The interface was getting too complicated, so we simplified Action and Appearance settings and added clear scroll cues. Microphone controls across both Decks, including push-to-talk and a Mute action that cancels active holds. An installer that checks dependencies, plus Maker’s Mark defaults for fresh setups. Existing saved layouts are preserved when updating. Getting two devices working was more than adding a second preview to the editor. We tested independent page changes, shared audio controls, unplugging either Deck while the other kept working, lock/unlock, suspend/resume and quitting/restarting the app. I’ve done the physical checks on my desktop, with automated and VM checks on a separate Fedora server. Where it stands: V1.5.1 supports Fedora Workstation 44, x86_64, GNOME/Wayland, with the Plus and standard 15-key MK.2. Debian 13, Ubuntu 26.04 and Pop!_OS 24.04 COSMIC still have separate, older experimental V1 previews. Those aren’t V1.5 multi-device releases. General Elgato profile/plugin compatibility isn’t included, and Homebridge remains experimental. What I’m considering for V2 Plugins, built-in system monitors and broader language support are on the plan. Other ideas include linked navigation and app-based paired pages, single/double/hold key actions, Dial Stacks and an Action Wheel, Now Playing, and key wallpaper. None of that is promised for a specific date, and scope may change. For transparency, ChatGPT and Codex help me with code, debugging, documentation and this announcement. I direct the features and design and test both physical Decks myself. The project is Apache-2.0 licensed and independent of Elgato and Corsair. If you have either Deck on Fedora, I’d also appreciate real-world setup and reliability feedback. Thanks! submitted by /u/Potential_Ad4169 [link] [comments]
