Hi everyone. I have been working in the MICU now for 1.5 years as a rotator, located in the Midwest. I was making $46 an hour, with +$2 night differential (current and $2.50 weekend differential. I got a job in Atlanta for a straight night shift, MICU job there that offered me $48 hourly (including night shift differential) and also had a $6 weekend differential. I took the job because better weather, better pay, better chance of advancing myself in the ICU (learning CRRT classes immediately vs. having to wait years in my current ICU), better hospital, etc. However, I just got a pay increase with the union at my current job and I now make $49 hourly, same differentials. So now my question to you all is, should I still take the job in Atlanta? Granted, that position is a 0.9 FTE and I currently work a 0.75, so I think in a way, I would still be making more money, and the ATL hospital did offer me $10,000 relocation fee (ofc I would have to stay there 2 years) but I still don’t know if it’s worth it to move across the country after getting that raise. Of course it could still offer me great things: new city, new job to test myself, new things to learn, new experiences, new people, new growth, etc… but I guess I would feel more comfortable knowing I for sure am making more money by my base alone. This ATL hospital is non-union- is it worth it to try and ask them to counteroffer? submitted by /u/Impressive-Cut-5852 [link] [comments]
