Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the diesel supply deal between United States and Russia as a “very risky choice,” which runs counter to efforts to force Russia to negotiate with Ukraine. The diesel deal would see Russia supplying more than 300,000 metric tons of diesle to the US and the globe. US president Donald Trump said the deal would lower prices at home. The Italian PM emphasised the need for "an authoritative leader" for the European Union in the negotiations in relation to the Russia-Ukraine war.
