Hey everyone, I kept telling myself I only watched "a few" reels before bed. So I built an app to find out. It was not a few. It's called DoomScroller. It's free, for Android, with an optional Wear OS watch app. π± On your phone π Stats: reels watched, time scrolling, average time per reel and ads skipped, for today and all time. It only counts while a reel is actually on screen. π« Automatic ad skipper: sponsored reels get swiped away the moment they appear. βΎοΈ Auto Cruise: reels play one after another, hands-free. It moves on when a reel ends, even when Instagram hides the progress bar (it detects the loop instead). π΅ Auto Shazam: one tap starts Shazam in the background and drops you back on your reel. Every song you scroll past ends up in your Shazam library. π Shortcuts to jump straight into Reels, or bail out to your home screen. β On your watch (optional) Use it as a remote control, or don't: the phone app works fine on its own. If you do: β²βΌ scroll, β₯ like, pause, all from your wrist Share reels to friends from the watch: the ring becomes a joystick for picking contacts Auto Cruise on/off, Auto Shazam, and your stats on your wrist π Sharing is 100% your choice By default nothing leaves your phone. If you want, switch on "Share online" to get your own stats page and a spot on the public leaderboard, where the goal is to be at the bottom. Only daily totals are sent: username, date, reels, time, ads. Nothing about what you watched, who you follow or your messages. Your username is locked to your phone with a secret key, so nobody can post as you. Switch sharing off and your data is deleted from the server immediately. About permissions: it needs Android's accessibility service to swipe for you and recognise reels and ads. That all happens on your phone, and nothing it sees is stored or uploaded. Download (v1.0) + leaderboard: https://doomscroller.archart.click It's a v1, so I'd love feedback: bugs, ideas, or your own scary numbers. π submitted by /u/Alaronza55 [link] [comments]
