Minecraft fans are about to get something they have never experienced before, and it could leave theme park fans in Orlando feeling a little jealous. The first-ever Minecraft hotel is officially coming in 2027, taking one of the world’s biggest gaming franchises beyond the screen and turning it into a place where guests can actually spend the night. But the hotel is only part of the story. An even larger experience is being built around it, creating the kind of destination that could quickly become a must-visit for Minecraft players. And once fans see what is planned, one question feels inevitable.Could something like this eventually make its way to Universal Orlando Resort?Minecraft Is About to Become Very RealThe world’s first Minecraft hotel will open at Chessington World of Adventures in the United Kingdom sometime in 2027.Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have revealed details about the project, and this won’t simply be a traditional hotel with Minecraft decorations scattered around the rooms. The Minecraft World Hotel will feature 69 themed rooms, giving fans a chance to spend their entire stay surrounded by familiar environments from the game.Guests will encounter Nether Portal-inspired lifts, while mine tunnel corridors will make the walk back to a guest room feel like another part of the experience.Even the restaurants will continue the theme. An underwater restaurant will take inspiration from Minecraft’s aquatic environments, while a Woodland Mansion-themed bar will add another recognizable setting. In other words, this isn’t supposed to feel like staying near Minecraft. It’s supposed to feel like staying inside it.An exact opening date hasn’t been announced, but the hotel is expected to open in 2027.Credit: Chessington World of AdventureThe Hotel Is Only the BeginningAs impressive as the hotel sounds, Minecraft fans will have an even bigger reason to visit Chessington.Minecraft World is opening alongside it.The new land will bring the video game into a permanent theme park environment with attractions and interactive experiences. Merlin Entertainments is developing the project alongside Mojang Studios. Its centerpiece will also make history.Escape the Nether will become the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster. Riders will join Steve and Alex for an adventure through the Nether before escaping through a portal and returning to the Overworld.Minecraft World will also include other Minecraft-themed attractions and experiences, giving guests opportunities to do more than simply ride a roller coaster. With Mojang directly involved in the project, the goal is clearly to make the physical environments feel recognizable to players. And that raises an interesting possibility across the Atlantic.Credit: Chessington World of AdventureUniversal Orlando Suddenly Feels Like an Obvious FitTo be clear, Universal Orlando Resort has not announced a Minecraft land, attraction, or hotel. This is speculation.Still, it’s difficult not to imagine the possibilities.Universal already proved that video game worlds can become major theme park destinations with SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Epic Universe. Nintendo’s characters and environments translated naturally into interactive attractions, colorful themed spaces, restaurants, merchandise, and rides.Minecraft could offer many of those same ingredients while feeling completely different. One possible location would be Islands of Adventure. The Lost Continent has steadily lost attractions and experiences over the years, making its footprint an obvious area for fans to watch whenever Universal’s future expansion plans come up.A Minecraft land could give Universal another enormous gaming property while introducing something aimed heavily at families and younger visitors. There is no indication that Universal is actually considering that idea. Minecraft’s current real-world theme park projects involve Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios. But from a fan perspective, the concept practically designs itself.Credit: UniversalWhat Could Be in the World of Minecraft?A Universal version of Minecraft wouldn’t necessarily need one enormous thrill ride to work. The game’s greatest strength is interaction.Universal could create a massive Minecraft playground filled with caves, climbing structures, villages, mobs, and hidden areas. Interactive elements could allow guests to collect resources, activate effects, or virtually build creations throughout the land. Then come the rides.A family coaster could use mine carts and underground environments. At the same time, another attraction could take inspiration from the family-friendly approach of Yoshi’s Adventure or the more kinetic coaster experience of Mine-Cart Madness in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.Dark rides could send guests through the Nether or into encounters with Creepers, Skeletons, and other mobs.Universal could take interactive technology further by letting guests complete crafting challenges or build digital creations that appear elsewhere inside the land.Minecraft’s identity revolves around exploration, creativity, and building. That could give Universal’s designers an enormous playground.Credit: UniversalOrlando Could Eventually Get Its TurnMinecraft World and the Minecraft World Hotel are officially heading to Chessington World of Adventures in 2027, creating a major new destination for fans of the game. For Universal Orlando Resort fans, however, there’s no Minecraft announcement to celebrate yet. That doesn’t make the idea any less intriguing.Epic Universe has already shown what can happen when a beloved video game leaves the screen and becomes a physical destination. Now, Minecraft is preparing to do the same thing elsewhere. If the world’s first Minecraft hotel and theme park proves successful, Orlando fans may have an even bigger reason to wonder when—or if—they’ll get their turn. The post First ‘Minecraft’ Hotel Set for 2027, Leaving Universal Guests Begging for Orlando Addition appeared first on Inside the Magic.
