I built a 100% free "Sleeping Pet" classroom noise meter to fix the problem where kids scream at BouncyBalls

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone, I noticed a common complaint from teachers about tools like bouncyballs.org: kids often realize that screaming makes the balls bounce higher, turning the noise meter into a shouting contest. To fix that dynamic, I built QuietPet: - A sleeping pet (Luna the cat, Barnaby the sloth, etc.) stays peacefully asleep as long as the room stays below the teacher's noise limit. - If the volume spikes, the pet wakes up startled. - Designed specifically for smartboards & projectors: includes classroom presets (Pin-Drop, Whisper, Group Work), a wake-up counter, and a "Teacher Talk" hotkey (Spacebar) so the teacher talking doesn't trigger an alert. - 100% free, runs entirely in the browser using the Web Audio API with $0 backend costs. (I've put the live link in the first comment below! 👇) Would love your feedback on the UI, audio responsiveness, or ideas for new mascots! submitted by /u/Practical_Local3755 [link] [comments]
