Forest v Arsenal Preview: Can The Gunners End Their City Ground Frustration?

Wait 5 sec.

Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest on Sunday (Kick-off: 4.30pm UK) looking for their tenth victory in eleven matches this season. After beating Leeds United and Lille at the Emirates, the Gunners have momentum, with six wins in their last eight Premier League away games. But the City Ground has a habit of making life uncomfortable. Our last two visits ended 0-0, despite 40 shots across those games. That’s a remarkable amount of effort for absolutely nothing in return!Forest’s form is poor, but the warning signs are thereOliver Glasner has endured a difficult start at Forest, who have collected just five points from six league matches and won only once in their last fourteen Premier League home games.Yet the results don’t tell the whole story. Forest have created the second-highest number of big chances in the division, but converted just 4.7% of their shots. Five goals from 10.3 expected goals suggests finishing, rather than creativity, is their biggest issue.Morgan Gibbs-White is central to that threat, creating seventeen chances already, while Dan Ndoye provides pace and directness. Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 system is generally well organised too. Forest have allowed the joint-second-fewest shots in the league.Arteta calls them “an extremely well-coached team”, and we shouldn’t dismiss that warning.(Photo by Clive Mason/Getty Images)Arsenal’s injury questions and the City Ground challengeMartin Zubimendi and Piero Hincapié both recently suffered ankle injuries in training. Zubimendi could return on Sunday, but Hincapié is expected to miss several weeks. William Saliba and Christos Tzolis remain sidelined. On the positive side, Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz and Riccardo Calafiori could return to the starting eleven following midweek rotation. And, against Lille Saka’s introduction helped turn a frustrating evening into a convincing 3-0 victory.Forest have injury concerns themselves. Gibbs-White is a doubt, Nikola Milenković has returned to training, and Igor Jesus is unavailable.Arsenal have won fourteen of their last seventeen league games, but have fallen behind in three of their last four. Giving Forest an early lift would be asking for trouble.Saka has five goal involvements in six Premier League appearances against Forest. Another would be very welcome, especially with Michael Oliver refereeing and the pressure on Arsenal to keep pace at the top.Can the Gunners finally break their City Ground scoring drought and take all three points?
