Traffic Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura has issued a fresh warning to motorists who violate traffic regulations, particularly those driving vehicles without number plates or using unauthorised sirens, cautioning that tougher punishments await offenders.Kananura emphasised that owning an expensive vehicle does not give anyone the right to disregard traffic laws. He noted that only authorised officials are permitted to use certain privileges, including sirens, and warned that anyone found violating the regulations would face the law regardless of their status.“Regardless of who you are, we shall arrest you if you have a vehicle fitted with sirens or operating without number plates when you are not among the dignitaries authorised to have those things in your car.”He explained that the Traffic Police had gradually toughened its enforcement measures against motorists who flout traffic regulations.“Back then, when we arrested these traffic violators, we would only remove the hidden number plates, sirens and other illegal fittings before letting them go. We later moved to arresting them and arraigning them in courts of law.”“Now, we arrest you, take you to jail, arraign you in court and remove everything that violates traffic laws.”Malaika Gashumba defends Frank, questions Kayanja’s generational cursesKananura said authorities had repeatedly sensitised the public about the need to comply with traffic regulations, adding that enforcement would continue to become stricter. He expressed hope that motorists who face jail time for traffic offences would learn from the experience and stop driving vehicles that violate traffic laws.SP Michael Kananura cautions artists to obey traffic rules, emphasizing that everyone must follow the law because no one is above it.#SanyukaUnCut #SanyukaUpdates #SanyukaNeBeat pic.twitter.com/OdzkzvnHQt— Sanyuka TV (@sanyukatv) October 16, 2026The post SP Michael Kananura issues fresh warning to drivers using sirens, hidden number plates appeared first on MBU.
