Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle is an outside candidate to be the first Premier League dismissal this season. That’s the view of Rory Jennings as a select few managers and head coaches already face the pressure just six matches into the season.Jaissle has got Newcastle sitting 11th in the Premier League, but Jennings believes he is already at risk of the sackGettyJaissle joined Newcastle from Al Ahli in early August as their successor to Eddie Howe.He has won four of his eight matches in all competitions and picked up a 2-2 draw with Liverpool on his touchline debut for the Magpies. However, Newcastle were well-beaten 4-1 by Coventry City on Monday night and face a resurgent Aston Villa this weekend.Appearing on Thank Football It’s Friday, Jennings and Flex discussed which managers are at risk of being the first to be sacked.Michael Carrick is under fire at 13th-placed Manchester United and Antonio Conte is prepared to replace him.Tottenham are winless in 19th, and their boss Roberto De Zerbi has just four victories from 15 since joining the club in March.Jennings said they are the two standout candidates but then named Jaissle as his outside bet, despite Newcastle sitting 11th in the table“When you try to work it out, it’s very difficult,” he explained. “But I would say we have to talk about Matthias Jaissle; we have to.“I think the expectations at Newcastle, the ownership, they’re going to be through the roof.”“In their last two away games, they’ve conceded four goals,” Jennings added: “That game at Elland Road (4-1 loss to Leeds United), they were battered, they couldn’t live with (Dominic) Calvert-Lewin.”Jennings believes that a defeat against Villa could be the beginning of the end for Jaissle at NewcastleGettyJennings also said: “They concede goals; Chelsea and Newcastle have conceded the joint-most amount of goals (with Bournemouth) in the league (13).“And nothing about Newcastle’s attack really scares you; you’re not looking at their attack being particularly intimidating. I don’t think they’re a very good team.“I think Jaissle has done okay so far, but all it takes is a defeat at home to Villa, which, by the way, I think happens. “Then all of a sudden they’ll be three, four points above the relegation zone eight games in – It could go wrong.”Who else is a frontrunner?Alvaro Arbeloa was appointed at Fulham in July after his half-season spell at Real Madrid, but is yet to win in the Premier League. The Cottagers have just two points and sit rock-bottom of the table ahead of their clash against Hull City on Saturday afternoon, with the Spaniard’s future already in question.Arbeloa is struggling in his early months at Fulham, but Jennings believes he deserves more timeGettyWhilst Flex chose Arbeloa as his leading contender, Jennings gave his reasoning as to why he won’t be the first to go.“He’s at a new club; he deserves an element of time. I don’t think you can appoint a young manager who’s learning on the job, perfecting his craft, and expect it to work immediately.“If you want it to work now, if you want to go proven, tried and tested, you go for somebody who is experienced. “You can’t give somebody their first job in English football and then go, ‘Right, make it work now!’ You have to give them an opportunity to make their mistakes.”
