XAUUSD — Value Acceptance Around 4,165 GoldOANDA:XAUUSDCameron_Wells_Xau Auction State XAUUSD on H1 is currently in a rebalancing auction after a strong recovery from the 4,080 area. Price has moved away from the previous lower distribution but is now rotating around 4,160–4,170, below the next upper-value references. The macro backdrop remains mixed. Gold finished Friday largely steady near $4,165 and was down about 0.7% for the week after both U.S. CPI and PPI came in hotter than expected. Markets still largely expect the Fed to hold rates this month, while pricing roughly a 90% probability of another hike in December. At the same time, a softer dollar and lower Treasury yields provided some support to Gold into the close. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh also avoided committing to the next policy move, maintaining a data-dependent stance despite acknowledging persistent inflation pressure and resilient U.S. growth. Where Value Sits A complete Volume Profile is not displayed, so POC, VAH and VAL should not be assumed. The immediate developing auction is centered around 4,158–4,168. Below current price, 4,140–4,148 forms the clearest Lower Value Support and represents the first area where the market can test whether cheaper prices still attract responsive participation. Above, 4,173–4,180 is the Mid-Value Reclaim. The larger upper distribution remains around 4,197–4,204, where Upper Value also approaches the descending H1 dynamic resistance. Buyer vs Seller Acceptance Buyers have improved the broader auction by lifting price substantially away from the recent 4,080 rejection extreme. However, the failure to maintain trade close to 4,190–4,200 shows that higher prices have not yet developed into stable value. The key test is now 4,140–4,148. If price rotates lower but fails to build sustained acceptance beneath that area, the response would suggest that the market is still comfortable maintaining the newer, higher distribution. For stronger buyer acceptance, H1 would then need to reclaim and hold 4,173–4,180. Main Auction Scenario The main scenario is a Lower Value Support test followed by renewed exploration toward Upper Value. Price may first rotate toward 4,140–4,148, testing whether the current distribution can continue rejecting lower prices. If H1 finds responsive participation there and subsequently rebuilds acceptance through 4,173–4,180, the auction could rotate toward the 4,197–4,204 Upper Value. A temporary pullback after the Mid-Value reclaim would remain consistent with the scenario as long as value does not begin migrating beneath Lower Value. The final test would be whether price can establish meaningful acceptance near Upper Value while confronting the descending H1 dynamic resistance. Key Auction Levels 4,197–4,204 — Upper Value / dynamic resistance test 4,173–4,180 — Mid-Value Reclaim 4,158–4,168 — Current developing auction 4,140–4,148 — Lower Value Support Around 4,080 — Previous lower rejection extreme Thesis Failure The higher-rotation thesis would weaken if H1 moves through 4,140–4,148 and begins spending sustained time beneath Lower Value. That would indicate the market is accepting cheaper prices rather than simply testing the lower edge of the current distribution, increasing the probability that value begins migrating back downward. Auction View XAUUSD is currently balancing between Lower Value Support and Mid-Value, with the next directional information likely to come from where H1 can maintain acceptance. If 4,140–4,148 continues rejecting lower prices, can the auction rebuild value through 4,173–4,180 and eventually test 4,197–4,204?
