NEAR Protocol (NEAR) — Weekend Trading OutlookNEAR / Tether PERPETUAL FUTURESMEXC:NEARUSDT.Psean78808NEAR Protocol (NEAR) — Weekend Trading Outlook | October 17–18, 2026 MARKET OUTLOOK: FAILED SUPPORT LEAVES THE RECOVERY WITH WORK TO DO NEAR's recovery from the mid-4.5 area has given way to another test of lower support. Friday saw the loss of 5.20–5.25 and 5.15. (Those earlier support watches are retired.) The broader daily and weekly advance survives, but the intraday bounce has yet to recover the falling averages. My preferred directional watch is a fresh failed recovery into 5.126–5.149. A separate failure below 4.920 would require its own confirmation. Neither is an active entry, and nearby checkpoints currently limit the reward available from a local fade or recovery long. This post restates observations from 01:15–01:28 UTC October 17, with price near 5.05 and volume comparisons frozen at 01:00 UTC. Prices refer to MEXC:NEARUSDT.P in USDT. The Plan chart includes the subsequently updated pitchfork; later triggers and fills have not been verified. ACROSS THE TIMEFRAMES Weekly: Price remains above both KAMAs, but the unfinished candle shows substantial rejection from the 6.0 area. No weekly top is confirmed. Daily: Price remains above both KAMAs, with the Fast KAMA near 4.945 being retested. 4H: Price has held the support of the Fast KAMA (circa 5.045) and it approaches the Slow, which stands above circa 5.076. Friday's recovery of 5.40 failed to hold. 48m, 24m and 6m: Price remains below the 48m KAMAs around 5.105/5.149. Elevated Stoch RSI against sub-50 RSI leaves momentum out of alignment, increasing instability and false-signal risk. A bounce would need price and volume confirmation to be deemed tradable. WEEKEND VOLUME AND PRINCIPAL LEVELS The last six completed hours recorded 1.11 times the seasonal reference; the last completed hour recorded 0.90 times. These compare MEXC activity with matching weekday/hour history. NEAR has held near normal for this weekend window. The near-term forecast adjustment was modest; it does not establish what the entire weekend will deliver. Volume, ATR and bandwidth had cooled after Friday's expansion. Cooling does not establish reversal. At support, heavy selling with progressively less downside would merit attention, but a defended reclaim must follow before calling it absorption. 5.20–5.25: Former support, now overhead reference supply. 5.126–5.149: Main failed-recovery watch; nearby slow KAMAs and rolling VWAP. 5.105, then 5.082: First checkpoints beneath the rejection area; 5.052 lies lower. 5.00–5.022: Immediate balance references; 5.00 is the first checkpoint for a lower-zone recovery. 4.920–4.979: Support-response area, including the daily Fast KAMA and lower model zone. 4.817, then 4.811: First lower stages after a fresh 4.920 failure. Circa 4.78, then 4.527–4.659: Deeper references requiring a new assessment if reached. CONDITIONAL PLANS CONFIRMATION means: Two consecutive full, completed 24m closes beyond the relevant gate, followed by a separate completed 6m retest after the second qualifying close. Longs require a defended higher low; shorts require a failed recovery and lower high. Participation should support the direction. 1. Assess a failed recovery into 5.126–5.149. After a fresh probe, require both decision closes below 5.126, then a failed 6m reclaim with renewed selling delta and downward price progress. Place the protective stop beyond the actual rejection high. First assess the nearest fast-KAMA/local-swing obstacle, approximately 5.105–5.082, before 5.052, 5.022 and 5.00. Two completed 24m closes above 5.149 cancel the pending fade. First-target spacing currently limits reward. 2. Assess a response from 4.92–4.98 support. First, require selling absorption. Two closes above 4.979, followed by a held 6m higher-low retest, can establish the recovery sequence. Buying volume and delta should improve as price reclaims the gate. The stop belongs below the actual sweep low. 5.00 is the first checkpoint, then 5.018–5.022. Two closes below 4.960 cancel the pending recovery. The nearer obstacles cannot be skipped in favor of 5.15. 3. Assess a fresh failure below 4.920. Require both closes below 4.920 and a later failed 6m reclaim with renewed selling participation and negative delta. Stop beyond the failed-retest swing. First assess 4.817, then 4.811 and around 4.78. Two closes above 4.960 cancel the pending short. Avoid chasing the initial wick. For participation, look for at least one decision candle above its own 50-bar volume average, completed hourly activity at or above its seasonal reference, and delta aligned with price. These are screening conditions, not proof of an edge. Require at least 2R after costs to the nearest obstacle, using the actual structural stop. Baseline/stress round-trip allowances were 0.20%/0.40% of entry, deducted from reward and added to risk; actual costs govern. Confirmation cannot rescue inadequate reward. MACRO CONTEXT Friday brought modest relief in dollar and Treasury-yield pressure within an elevated risk backdrop. That does not in itself suggest the possibility of a recovery for NEAR. Reassess after material news and changes in participation. NOTATE BENE MA's: Purple is Fast KAMA (10,2,30); pink is Slow KAMA (10,5,30). These are Kaufman Adaptive Moving Averages. PITCHFORK CHANNEL: Light-gray lines describe the fitted trend path; gray fill marks the core and burgundy outer areas mark extensions. The sloping boundaries change price with time. An excursion alone does not establish reversal. DRAWINGS: Yellow lines mark gates/checkpoints; red, green and gray zones mark rejection watches, support watches and reference areas. Red rejection zones differ from fork warning areas. 'AEE' refers to Adaptive Edge Engine; its dynamic boundaries are model references. Quoted VWAP values are rolling calculations from the analysis layouts. Refresh by 04:00 UTC October 17 and 00:00 UTC October 18; update moving references before entry. Retire an unfilled sequence if its first checkpoint trades before entry, its defining swing fails, six full 24m bars pass after the second confirming close, material news changes the premise, or the next refresh arrives. Stops act intrabar. The outlook expires at 23:59 UTC October 18.
