Hey all, I'm an indie iOS dev (solo). A few years ago I made PianoSprout, a little piano toy for kids: the keys light up one by one and you just tap along — the app handles the rhythm for you, so you can "play" a song with zero music theory. My own kid was the first tester. Today I shipped version 2.4. Here's what's new: iPhone Duo support. Fold it, keep the music — when you fold the iPhone, the song keeps playing right on the outer screen. No pause, no restart. Practice stars. Earn stars for full-song practice, and see your best result and completion count per song. Practice summary for parents — view a summary and clear records on the device. 6 new Christmas songs, bringing the built-in library to 36 songs. It's free, no ads, no in-app purchases, no account, and it collects no data (kids' app, that part was non-negotiable for me). App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pianosprout/id1519974306 I made a short preview of the Duo support here: https://youtu.be/duZrMv3mcGU Two questions for you: 1. For anyone with a foldable phone: does continuing on the outer screen actually feel seamless, or is there something you'd expect it to do differently? 2. Practice stars — is gamifying practice a good idea for kids, or does it add pressure? Honest answers welcome. Happy to answer anything about the build. submitted by /u/embbnux [link] [comments]
