I was tired of how awkward it is to read on a computer, so I created a minimalist and lightweight e-reader for Windows. Here's the result.

Hello everyone 👋 I’ve always enjoyed reading in digital format, but most options for PC left me with the same impression: they’re either outdated programs cluttered with technical buttons—looking more like a spreadsheet—or bloated applications that force you to create an account, register, and endure advertisements. That’s why I decided to create Historia, an e-book reader (for EPUB and PDF files) designed specifically for a calm, focused reading experience: Instant startup, lightweight design: At only about 15 MB, it won’t slow down your computer or consume unnecessary system resources. Distraction-free (Zen Mode): As soon as you start reading, menus and buttons disappear, leaving only the text on your screen. 100% private, no registration required: There’s no need to create an account, provide an email address, or even be connected to the internet. Everything you read stays on your own device. Eye-friendly color modes: Choose between light, warm sepia (reminiscent of paper), or deep night mode for comfortable reading in the dark. Bring your favorite passages to life: Save a quote or a special passage; clicking on your notes takes you directly back to that page, with the text gently highlighted. Reading, tailored to you: Adjust font size, typeface, spacing, and margins with instant previews—all without disrupting the text layout or losing your place. Track your reading habits: A built-in calendar lets you see how many minutes you read each day, helping you maintain your reading streak. It is completely free and ad-free. There are no subscriptions or hidden purchases; it’s a project created with great care for those of us who love a good book. Currently, it is available for download and use exclusively on Windows 11. We are working on a web version, as well as compatibility for macOS and Linux. I’ll be adding a roadmap to the website soon. You can take a look and download it here: historiareader.com I’d love to hear what you think—what details could be improved, or what features you’d like to see in future versions? Any feedback is a huge help! Plus: The application is available in English and Spanish. P.S. I’m really bad at making videos, hahahaha. submitted by /u/snYk07 [link] [comments]
