Haras de Meautry will stand a stallion for the first time in 20 years with the arrival of Alcantor for the 2027 season. The son of New Bay will stand for a fee of €4,000 on Live Foal terms.Alcantor was the highest-rated two-year-old colt in France of his generation for his owner Edouard de Rothschild, winning on debut in June and later landing the G2 Prix Thomas Bryon before finishing runner-up in the G1 Criterium International. At three, he was third in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, finishing half a length behind the winner Metropolitan, beating the subsequent Group 1 winners Diego Velazquez, Henry Longfellow, and Puchkine. Trained initially in France by Andre Fabre before joining Jospeh O'Brien in Ireland earlier this year, Alcantor added Group 3 wins to his tally at three and four.A half-brother to three stakes performers, he is out of the Medicean mare Bianca De Medici and follows in the footsteps of the influential French stallions Kenmare, Exbury, Vieux Manoir, and Brantome, all of whom have stood at the historic Haras de Meautry at Touques, close to Deauville.Alcantor will be available to view during the Arqana October Yearling Sale, by appointment only by contacting the stud on +33 2 31 88 04 07.
