Gold levels, Mon 19 Oct: R1 4190 is the level that mattersGoldOANDA:XAUUSDRealMichaelNeoTHE WEEK STARTS · Monday 19 October Gold (XAUUSD) · Daily levels R3 4222 R2 4203 R1 4190 Pivot 4171 S1 4151 S2 4138 S3 4119 Where we left it Friday ran from 4147 to 4199 and closed at 4165. Buyers held Friday's R1 after a false break and took price to within a dollar of R2. Week 4 closed with 4 plays: 3 in profit, 1 at breakeven, 0 stopped. Where price sits Gold opened the week above the pivot and stayed there overnight. Each dip into the pivot zone was bought. Price is at 4187, $3 under R1. Bias: Higher. The level that matters: R1 4190 Friday's high of 4199 sits just above it. Break: if the H1 closes above R1 and the retest holds, the path is through Friday's high at 4199 to R2 at 4203. Above that is R3 at 4222. Reject: if R1 turns price away and the H1 closes back below, the path is back to the pivot at 4171. The pivot is the decision zone. If it holds, buyers are still in it. An H1 close below it opens S1 at 4151. R1 to R2 is only $13. A break-and-retest at R1 needs a stop of $8 or less to give 1.5R. If the trade can't give 1.5R, there's no setup. The day's width S1 to R1 is $39 and S3 to R3 is $103. This is a squeeze: the zones are tighter than on any day last week, so there are no S3/R3 first-touch plays today. Bigger picture Gold still leans bearish below 4220 on the swing view, but today's bias is higher while price holds the pivot. Today's R3 at 4222 sits right on that line, and R2 at 4203 sits just under the 4205 resistance.
