Hi there, I am a unit clerk at a hospital and have been for about 18 months now. I enjoy the job, I like the fast paced environment of the hospital. But I an struggling with job satisfaction because - I dont have any friends. I've never had a job where I don't make friends. Especially considering I work on a predominantly female unit and they're all best buds. They will sit their laughing all night/ day gossiping and chatting, and maybe 10% of the nurses have asked me anything at all about my life. Most of the time no one even says hi to me, or asks me how I am. All of the unit clerks on my unit feel this way, so I know its not just me lol. 95% of the words out of my mouth or said to me are work related, even on a slow nightshift with few patients. I'm missing basic niceties as simple as a smile or some eye contact. I truly feel like "the help" to most of them and like I'm not a person with any sort of value. Do any other clerical or just non clinical staff feel this way? submitted by /u/apoyn [link] [comments]
