Dominic Solanke has admitted he could have scored a hat-trick for Tottenham against Man United, but also revealed that he will remember one ‘great moment’ from Saturday forever.Solanke’s form and fitness have been a source of much frustration for Spurs fans, with the centre-forward unable to recapture the sharpness he showed in his first six months at the club. The striker missed almost the entirety of last season through injury, and so far this season, he has looked extremely short of confidence in his own fitness, and his finishing has left a lot to be desired. It looked like it was going to be another extremely frustrating evening for Solanke at Old Trafford, as he missed a couple of big chances to score in either half, but the 29-year-old had the last laugh, meeting Sandro Tonali’s cross in stoppage time to give Spurs a much-deserved equaliser.Dominic Solanke vs Richarlison in 2025/26 Premier League for SpursWhile Solanke struggled with fitness problems last season, Richarlison put up decent numbers that helped keep Tottenham in the Premier League.D. When you’re a striker, and you miss a few chances, it’s easy to not want to keep getting in the right positions, but I wanted to keep going.“I feel like when I miss a chance, I want to just make sure I get another one and make sure I put it right. So, yes, it’s frustrating that we didn’t win the game and I didn’t score the winning goal, but like I mentioned, the situation that we were in in the end, I think to get a point from it is something that we can take positives from. It’s obviously not a win, but it’s something we can build on.”Solanke admits he was proud to be named Spurs captainRoberto De Zerbi named the striker his captain for the day, and the Tottenham boss admitted the captain’s armband was deserved for how much the striker has suffered recently. The former Bournemouth man confessed that the honour of leading out Spurs at Old Trafford is a memory that will remain with him for life. When asked about being named captain, he said: “That was a great moment for me, a moment I’ll remember forever, to be honest, captaining this great club at Old Trafford. Yeah, that’s not bad, is it?”READ MORE: Tottenham’s hardest-working players revealed as three surprising names top the statsThe post Dominic Solanke honoured to be Tottenham captain but admits he wanted a hat-trick appeared first on Spurs Web.
