A jury ruled that the Society for Human Resource Management, or SHRM, failed to accommodate a job applicant. Plaintiff Fiona Torres claimed SHRM revoked her job offer due to her need for a medical service dog. The jury awarded Torres $400,000 in compensatory damages for violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. SHRM plans to appeal the verdict while asserting their offered alternatives for Torres were adequate.
