I was all set to at least try a VBAC with my daughter, but when I was 39 weeks, I came in for an ultrasound, and they said there was a really good chance she could be 10 lbs. I've short, and I'd had doctors before mention I have a particularly small pelvic outlet. I realized there was a better than average chance that she'd have problems getting out, and I'd end up with an emergent C-section. I didn't want to put her safety at risk for the sake of my ego, and I knew planned C-sections were safer for everyone concerned. I decided right then and there, and told the doctors to scrap the VBAC idea. They asked if I was sure, and when I told them I was, they stepped out for a minute, then came back and asked "Would tomorrow be a good birthday?" I've never regretted it. Having a baby with the best chance in life was my ultimate goal, and I got that. Risking her life for an artificially hyped vaginal birth experience was not worth it.
