I had a patient who was an ER admit and he was sound sleeping. Charge nurse secured chat me to give him pain meds right now and document if he refuses. (it was 11pm) He was asleep, so I had to wake him up and give him his dilaudid. he was like Sure. This unit wakes up patients every night q3 or 4 to give them their PRN. Floats do not like this unit because of micro-management by charge nurses (they only message floats and only check their patients for “rounds”). I hate this lack of trust. Once a charge nurse in this unit woke my patient up and asked how is your care been so far? my patient had some trust issues with me since then because he was like why would someone wake me up to ask about my nurse if she’s doing a good job or not.   submitted by   /u/Ok-Being1322 [link]   [comments]
