Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Pukstas, Adeniran, and more

Wait 5 sec.

Rokas Pukstas is off the mark for Hajduk Split. Pukstas scored his first goal of the new Croatian league season on Sunday despite Hajduk Split’s 2-1 loss to NK Varazdin. The American midfielder logged his latest 90-minute shift for the Croatian club in what was his fifth appearance in all competitions. Mario Mladenovski boosted Varazdin in front after 53 minutes before Pukstas equalized for the visitors three minutes later. The Oklahoma native drove upfield before drilling a low shot into the far corner to tie things up. However, Varazdin would regain its lead for good as Luka Mamic delivered the eventual game-winning goal for the hosts six minutes after Pukstats tied it for Hajduk Split. Pukstas finished the match with three fouls drawn, four duels won, and five defensive recoveries. Hajduk Split will now turn its attention towards the start of a two-legged UEFA Conference League qualifying series with Zalgiris Vilnius on Thursday. Elsewhere, Sam Adeniran scored twice in LASK’s 3-0 Bundesliga win over Donovan Pines and Grazer AK. Diego Kochen made one save in Lyngby’s Superliagen draw with Aarhus.
