Five people and a dog were rescued after a structure fire broke out in Marsaskala yesterday evening, prompting a major response from Civil Protection Department firefighters.Firefighters from Fire Station 4 arrived to find the building filled with heavy smoke and immediately launched a rescue operation.As a precaution, crews used a Turntable Ladder to safely evacuate the five trapped individuals and one dog from the building.The fire was successfully brought under control before firefighters carried out ventilation procedures to clear the remaining smoke and ensure the building was safe.Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by a Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department medical team and were later discharged after receiving treatment.The Civil Protection Department also thanked officers from the Malta Police Force’s District 4 and Enemalta personnel for assisting during the operation.The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.•
