The DPDP framework and rules have come to the timely rescue of bankers in safeguarding their interest through streamlined systems and processes, whereby the proper authenticity of transactions are established digitally, which further facilitates compliance of governance and audit requirements. Customer awareness must be enhanced before risk preventive tools are introduced.Sitaram PopuriBengaluruUplift of contract workersApropos ‘How India’s contract labour framework is changing’ (August 4), contract workers play a massive role in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, logistics and services. But they often face issues related to fair wages, job security and lack of social protection. The new framework and labour codes seek to ensure better social security, timely payment of wages and improved working conditions for contract workers.Despite these positive changes effective implementation remains a challenge. Strict enforcement is needed to prevent exploitation. A balanced contract labour system that protects workers’ rights while supporting industrial growth is essential for our economic growth. Employers, contractors and government agencies must work together to ensure the intended benefits reach each and every worker.Bal GovindNoidaFactory output buoyantThis refers to ‘Growth engine’ (August 4). The IIP readings for Q1 of FY26-27 have shown surprising buoyancy. The June reading is a two-year high and this is despite the doom and gloom predictions of most economists and bankers when the war in West Asia erupted. The data reveals broad based growth across most segments including capital goods. This is a relief and confirms the growing resilience of the Indian economy despite deep oil price and supply shocks. However this is not the time for overconfidence and celebration since the crisis has exposed several gaps in our preparedness including low oil and cooking gas stocks.Pradip MenonKochiPublished on August 4, 2026Sign into Unlock benefits!Access 10 free stories per monthAccess to comment on every storySign up/Manage to our newslettersGet notified by email for early preview to new features, discounts & offers${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
