I was worried about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 cover screen until I changed one setting

Wait 5 sec.

When I got the Galaxy Z Fold 8, I was curious to see how apps would adapt to its new cover display. Samsung has moved to a wider and shorter form factor, and I was worried that some apps might not fit the screen properly. Those concerns seemed justified the first time I opened Amazon Music. The album art extended far enough down the screen that it started encroaching on the buttons below it.I ran into a similar issue in another app while entering an OTP. Once the keyboard appeared, the OTP field disappeared from view, forcing me to enter the code without being able to see it.I was beginning to think that the Fold 8's cover screen might remain problematic until app developers updated their apps. However, a colleague told me he wasn't seeing the same issue on his device.Check the screen zoom setting on your Fold 8It turned out that the Screen layout and zoom setting, which can make items on the screen smaller or larger, was responsible. There are five levels available, and my Fold 8 was set to the maximum. Lowering it to either of the first two levels made apps fit the cover screen properly. It's unclear whether Smart Switch caused the setting to be pushed to the maximum, but my colleague's Fold 8, which was set up without transferring from another phone, used a lower level out of the box. That makes this setting worth checking if you've recently moved to the Fold 8 from another Galaxy phone, or plan to buy one in the future. Otherwise, you might assume that the cover display's unusual aspect ratio is causing apps to behave badly or not fit properly when the real problem is simply the display scaling. You can find the Screen layout and zoom option in Settings > Display menu. Keep in mind that this setting applies to both the cover and internal displays. There's no way to set it separately for the cover screen. Thankfully, you can compensate for that by increasing the font size separately from Settings > Display > Font size and style and adjust the size of home screen app icons from Settings > Home screen.
