Moses Itauma has faced further comparison to Mike Tyson by the heavyweight legend’s former coach Teddy Atlas.Itauma is the heavyweight division’s fastest rising star right now, and at the age of 21 is on the cusp of challenging for world glory.Itauma is putting people to sleep and is closing in on the top of the heavyweight divisionThroughout his career he has faced comparisons to power-punching Tyson, who made a fast rise in the sport which saw him become the division’s youngest ever world champion at the age of 20.The Briton looked on course and had hoped to try and break Tyson’s record, but fell short, although is still on a mind-blowing trajectory.Atlas knows exactly what it is like to mentor a prodigious boxing talent, having worked with Tyson during his rise until 1982 when they split. And the American believes Itauma has qualities superior to Tyson at the exact same age.“Where Itauma is different from Tyson is that he is more dimensional,” Atlas told CanadaCasino.“He can do more things. He can box a little bit, he can counterpunch, I have seen him set traps, he can go get you, he can go in the trenches, he can go in close, go to the body, go to the head and put punches together. “Tyson was more of a one-direction seek-and-destroy machine, but a very good one. “Tyson created opportunities for his speed and power by being aggressive and smart, moving his head and making you miss and pay.“But you pretty much always knew what you were going to get.”How far do similarities go between Itauma and Tyson?Itauma can reach the achievements Tyson did according to AtlasGettyItauma is carrying the similar invincibility streak that Tyson carried in his rise to world title level in the paid ranks. So far the Chatham native has passed every single test with flying colours, and left a trail of destruction in his wake. And Atlas believes the similarities between Tyson and himself are frightening, especially for prospective opponents.“The greatest similarity is speed and power,” he continued. “Itauma is one of the first heavyweights since Tyson where I can say he shows you that combination of pure speed and pure power that Tyson showed. “No other heavyweights really showed that combination with both hands the way Tyson did. Tyson became legendary because of that combination of speed, power and ferociousness. “He scared people. Itauma is starting to scare people a little bit too, maybe not just with the way he attacks, but with his talent.
