Samsung made its foldables a little more Ultra-like last year by equipping the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a 200MP camera sensor. This year, the company has not introduced a newer primary camera with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, but brought a 200MP camera feature that debuted with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra's 200MP primary camera can capture full-resolution 200MP images with HDR and multi-frame processing. This means that whether you choose 12MP, 50MP, or 200MP resolution for still images, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra can offer a wide dynamic range. Thanks to multi-frame processing, colors should look better, with fewer instances of blown-out highlights or crushed shadows.With HDR processing, more details in overly bright or overly dark areas of images will be preserved compared to the Fold 7. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor likely powers this improvement.On earlier models with 200MP cameras, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, selecting the 200MP resolution in the Camera app's Photo mode would result in blown-out highlights, crushed shadows, and a limited color range.The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's first foldable phone to offer a 200MP camera with an HDR image-processing pipeline for the full-resolution 200MP setting. The phone also has an upgraded ultrawide camera, using a 50MP, 1/2.55-inch sensor with autofocus. It can capture macro shots and record 8K 30fps videos.
