The God of War TV show adaptation at Prime Video has been in flux for a few weeks while looking for a new actor for its lead role, but a new report indicates a replacement may be ready. And it’s a good one, if you ask me. According to Deadline, actor Dave Bautista is currently in talks to replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos after the latter tore his bicep while filming a stunt earlier this year. Photo via @davebautista on Instagram You may know Bautista from several roles, including Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, or as himself as a wrestler in the WWE. He’s definitely got the body type and massive bald head to portray the angry-Spartan-warrior-turned-dad. A report over the weekend said that the show was also re-casting the actors for both Atreus and Thor’s daughter Thrud, as the show scrambles to recover after Hurst’s injury derailed production. Following the injury, Amazon decided to recast the role rather than wait several months for Hurst to recover. If he gets the role, Bautista would join an already-impressive cast including Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri and Danny Woodburn as Brok. I haven’t seen too many of Bautista’s roles besides his awesome work as Drax, whose dry humor was a trademark of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. He can definitely pull off the stoic nature that Kratos offers in the God of War reboot games, and he’s certainly got the physique to pull off the role as well. We’ll see if the report ends up true if negotiations shake out, but I’m tentatively ready to call this a positive as the show hopefully moves forward and continues filming over the next few months and aims for a release some time in 2027.0The post Marvel star rumored to be the new Kratos in God of War TV show may be a perfect fit appeared first on Destructoid.
