Very good point. However it sounds like all the pets require a lot of space (guinea pigs, fish, and birds) and if this WAS the case, the family probably have no choice but to leave them behind. I'd bet they don't have a way to transport them all at the same time nor a space to keep them at their destination. It also could be that this was a planned vacation where they had a pet sitter sorted, pet sitter ditched last minute to evacuate, and now they're shooting their shot. Obviously all guess work cuz I don't know, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for choosing beggars like this to have no regard for other people's safety.
