Samsung has downgraded the update schedule for one of its rugged Galaxy XCover smartphones. Starting in August 2026, the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro will receive security updates every three months.The device launched in June 2022 and went on sale the following month, so it enjoyed monthly security updates for four years.Samsung will continue releasing security patches for the phone, but owners will now have to wait longer between updates. That may be particularly relevant for business and enterprise customers, who often keep rugged devices in service longer than regular consumer smartphones.The XCover 6 Pro will receive quarterly updates for another year before Samsung ends support altogether. This is typical for a Galaxy smartphone that launched with a promise of four major OS upgrades.The phone received its final major OS upgrade in late 2025.
