A former employee has sued Xfinity/Comcast, alleging that managers at an Xfinity retail store in Plainville, Connecticut, subjected underperforming sales employees to humiliating workplace punishments, including tying them to a chair and smashing cream pies into their faces. Comcast denies the allegations and says it will fight the claims in court. According to CT Insider, David Figueroa, a Meriden resident who worked at the Plainville Xfinity store for less than a month in February 2026, filed the lawsuit in Connecticut Superior Court on July 9, 2026. The complaint seeks damages exceeding $15,000. It alleges the company created and tolerated a hostile work environment designed to pressure employees to meet sales goals and customer survey metrics. According to the complaint, store management ranked sales consultants each month and identified the lowest-performing employee. The lawsuit alleges managers directed coworkers to tie that employee to a chair in a back office before another employee smashed a cream pie into the person’s face. Figueroa claims the incidents served as punishment for failing to meet sales expectations. Other employees allegedly recorded the pie punishments The lawsuit also alleges employees recorded the incidents on video and tracked who had already been “pied” and who would face the next punishment on a whiteboard in the store. According to the complaint, Figueroa witnessed one coworker undergo the alleged punishment and later saw video of another employee receiving similar treatment after a poor customer survey score. Figueroa claims the practice began when he started work on Feb. 2 and continued until his employment ended on Feb. 27. He alleges the environment caused emotional distress, damaged his reputation, and resulted in lost wages and employment benefits. The lawsuit further alleges he reported his concerns to a Comcast regional manager by phone and text before resigning, but received no response to his written complaint. An ex-Comcast employee claims the company allowed coworkers to tie low-performing workers to chairs then strike them with pies in the rear of Plainville location. https://t.co/V9qEhTWrgw— Connecticut Post (@connpost) August 3, 2026 The complaint also alleges management never informed Figueroa about the alleged workplace practice before he accepted the job. Instead, he claims supervisors used the incidents to intimidate employees into improving sales performance and customer satisfaction scores. Comcast has disputed the lawsuit’s allegations. “The Company has zero tolerance for harassment, humiliation, or any behavior that compromises a respectful and safe workplace,” a Comcast spokesperson said in a statement provided to the CT Insider. “This matter is in litigation so we will not comment on the specific allegations, other than to say that we disagree with the claims in the complaint and its characterization of the alleged events, and intend to fully respond through the legal process,” the statement said. As of Aug. 3, 2026, the case remains pending in Connecticut Superior Court.
