Mastercard today announced that Joyce Bo has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Core Payments, Asia Pacific. Her appointment rounds out a series of recent, senior appointments that strengthen Mastercard’s regional leadership team as the company continues to expand across AI-enabled commerce, commercial and B2B payments, and data-driven services.The appointments bring together experienced external hires and internal talent with deep institutional knowledge. Against this backdrop, Mastercard has made senior leadership appointments across the region:Joyce Bo joined Mastercard on 3 August as Executive Vice President, Core Payments, Asia Pacific, leading the company's Core Payments business across the region. Her remit spans consumer products, digital platforms, acceptance, payment networks including account-to-account capabilities, optimization and digital assets. Joyce joins Mastercard from Ant International, where she was General Manager leading payment innovation and the policy center of Alipay+, the company's global wallet gateway. She brings deep experience leading the development and commercialization of digital payment solutions across Asia, combined with nearly a decade in investment banking and private equity in Hong Kong with Morgan Stanley and HSBC.Abhinav Bhatt, who assumed the role of General Counsel, Asia Pacific, in April, returns to the region after serving as Assistant General Counsel for Mastercard's global Commercial and New Payment Flows organization in Purchase, New York. He brings extensive experience across Mastercard's Law Department, with deep legal expertise supporting the company's continued growth across products, partnerships and services.Dr. Peter Robejsek, who took up the role of Executive Vice President, Market Development, Asia Pacific, in March, leads strategic partnerships with merchants, acquirers, fintechs, governments and regulators to accelerate digital transformation and financial inclusion across the region. Relocating from Europe, Peter brings senior leadership experience across product management, Advisors and market leadership, most recently as Country Manager for Germany. Paul Monnington, who joined Mastercard in January as Division President, Australasia, leads the company's business across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Paul brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across financial services, retail banking, payments and digital transformation, including senior executive roles with Wpay, Woolworths Group and National Australia Bank. In Southeast Asia, Mastercard has introduced a new two-division leadership structure, effective 1 July, to strengthen customer focus across markets with diverse economic profiles and digital maturity. Beena Pothen has been appointed Division President, West Southeast Asia, leading Mastercard's business across Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Previously Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, Beena has a strong track record of growing customer relationships, expanding connected ecosystems and partnering with governments and industry stakeholders.Donald Ong has been appointed Division President, East Southeast Asia, responsible for Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
